Kenya has an efficient infrastructural network that links the main towns in Kenya to the Nairobi. There are several major highways such as the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway, the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway and Thika Superhighway, which is the latest addition to the list of modern road networks in Africa.

Some roads in Kenya link the country to the rest of East Africa. For instance, the A23 Road connects the coastal towns of Voi and Mwatate to Arusha and Moshi in Tanzania.

Nairobi to Mombasa

Mombasa is one of the most popular cities at the coast of Kenya. It is about 484km from Nairobi. There are several ways to get to Mombasa from Nairobi. You can fly, enjoy a road trip or take a train. By road, it takes about 8 hours using public service buses. Alternatively, fly from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi to Moi International Airport in Mombasa. This flight takes about an hour. On the other hand, sit back in a bunk bed for an 8-hour train ride through Tsavo National Park to Mombasa. Often, it is exciting, but unreliable.

Nairobi to Amboseli

Amboseli’s elephants and sweeping panoramas will entice you to travel 216km from Nairobi to Amboseli. This distance takes about 4 hours by road. If you fly from Nairobi to an airstrip in Amboseli, it will take you about 1 to 1 ½ hours.

Nairobi to Diani Beach

Diani Beach is your best bet for an unforgettable beach safari. To get there, you can fly to Ukunda Airstrip and then be transferred by road to your hotel. If your idea of fun is a long road trip, then embark on an over 9 hours’ drive from Nairobi to Mombasa and then proceed to Diani Beach. It is a 517km journey.

Nairobi to Maasai Mara

Maasai Mara is located 280km from Nairobi. A road trip takes a maximum of 6 hours from Nairobi. There are several airstrips in Maasai Mara so you should choose a flight that takes you to the airstrip that is closest your lodge/camp.

Nairobi to Kisumu

Kisumu is about 342km from Nairobi. This distance takes about 6 hours to drive from Nairobi. Flights to Kisumu from Nairobi use the Kisumu International Airport, and these flights are about 1 hour long.

Nairobi to Eldoret

The distance between Nairobi to Eldoret is about 314km. This distance takes about 5 and a half hours to cover by road. On the other hand, a flight from Nairobi to Eldoret takes about an hour.
