The waterfalls and fountains of Bangladesh

Hum Hum Waterfall
Hum Hum is one of the largest waterfalls in Bangladesh located at Razkandi reserved forest in Moulvibazar district in Sylhet division.  This beautiful waterfall was discovered by some students of Bangladesh in 2010. The natural beauty of big boulders, surrounding forest and the adjoining streams are the major attractions for the tourists. As the waterfall itself stands in the northeastern part of the country, one can see the Indian border from there clearly. The height of the waterfall is about 147 to 160 feet.

How to reach
A tourist has to reach Madhabpur from Sreemangal by jeep or any other vehicle. It is about one hour journey from Sreemangal. Guides are available to guide the tourists to Hum Hum waterfall from Madhabpur.

Madhabkunda Waterfall:
Madhabkunda is another well-known waterfall in Bangladesh, situated at Borolekha in Moulvibazar District. It is about 3 km off from Dakhin Bagh railway station.The height of the waterfall is about 200 feet. It is a popular tourist spot for its surrounding forest and the adjoining streams.  A recent addition to the water reservoir and tourist cottage has increased the facilities of the spot considerably.

How to reach
Visitors can visit Madhabkunda either from Sylhet or Moulvibazar by bus or reserved car. On the zigzag road through the hills they can enjoy the beauty of tea garden and the hills.

Nafa-Khum Fountain: The word “Khum” means “fountain” in Marma language. The fountain is located on the wild hilly Sangu River in a remote area known as Remarks in Thanchi Upazila under Bandarban Hill District. Nafakhum fountain is also known as Remakri fountain.  It is the largest waterfall considering the volume of water falling and one of the most beautiful places for the tourists to visit.

How to reach
A traveler has to go to Bandarban first and then from Bandarban to Thanchi by bus. The distance between Bandarban to Thanchi is about 79 km. From Thanchi, he has to go to Remarki by boat which will take about three hours to reach the destination.

Jadipai Fountain: Jadipai fountain  is another attractive tourist spot located at Ruma upazilla of Bandarban district in Chittagong Division. During the rainy season the flow of Jadipai fountain becomes very rough. The natural beauty of the fountain looks so amazing and surprising that the tourists after reaching there forget the troubles of their journey.  There are some Tribal villages in the area where the tourists can take dinner or pass a comfortable night.

How to reach
A tourist has to go to Bandarban first.Then from Bandarban to Ruma which will take about 3 hours. From Ruma he has to gojadipai via Keokradong which is about 2.5 hours Journey.

Shuvolong Fountain: Shuvolong fountain is also a beautiful fountain situated in Borokol beside the famous Kaptai lake and about 25kilometers away from Rangamati. The fountain is very close to Shuvolong Bazar. The fountain remains active during the rainy season. The height of waterfall is as high as 300 feet.  There is a local market where a tourist may spend some time for shopping, have a snack or even swim in fresh lake water reserved in a well-constructed pond. The natural beauty of the surroundings is even more beautiful than that of the fountain itself.

How to reach
A traveler at first should go to Rangamati by bus or reserved car from Chittagong. The only way to reach at the fountain from Rangamati is the lake by boat.

 

 

Baklai Fountain: Baklai fountain is the most magnificent and highest fountain in Bangladesh. The fountain is about three hundred and eighty feet high. It is situated near Baklai village at Thanchi Upozilla in the deepest area of Bandarban hills. It is a hidden place of Bandarban which remained unknown for a long time. A traveler must have at least seven days on hand for visiting the fountain. Only the beauty-loving travelers come to visit this wonderful place.  

How to reach
A traveler should go to Bandarban first by bus. Baklai is near to Thanchi and Ruma both. So they can go by any route they like but for better accommodation, Ruma is best.
